Another case in bad quality control was the iPhone 3G that was released in July of 2008. Their were serious problems with battery life, dropped calls, lack of 3G signal, etc. But the media seems to give Apple a pass on everything. It’s also important to note that most of the problems were fixed with software updates. By November of 2008, the Apple 3G was the best smartphone on the market.
Sprint can’t seem to keep the HTC EVO 4Gin stock. However, there have been some minor problems reported by users. However, HTC is aware of the problems and plans to fix them. Your LA Gadgets Examiner hasn’t had any problems with my EVO–yet. But I haven’t had the phone for two weeks yet. So far, it’s been almost perfect.
The company that should take the crown for quality control problems is Archos. They make great products, but release newgadgets with several screen issues and software that’s not ready for prime time. Many early adapters of the Archos 5 Internet Tablet complained about–well, everything. Many people complained about poor customer service, but we have never encountered anything but great customer service with Archos.
It’s your turn, readers! What’s the worst case of quality control you’ve seen on a product? Do you agree that poor quality control seems to run throughout the whole industry? Sound off in the Comments section!
